Grouping issues with Trophy Takers Shuttle T's vs Muzzy Broadhead
« on: September 29, 2015, 01:21:26 PM »
Question on broadhead flight differences between Muzzy 125 grain 3 blade vs Trophy Taker Shuttle T's 125 grain.

At 40 yards the Muzzy broadheads are hitting the bulls eye consistently and grouping equaling good as field points. I tried the Trophy Taker Shuttle T's and at the exact same yardage hitting about 8 to 10" left of the bullseye. Height are the same as field points and Muzzy broadheads.

I was thinking of switching but now not sure I want to. What would make some a drastic flight change? I feel confident bow is tuned, form is correct and after shooting field points & the muzzy broadheads over several different days of shooting remained consistent.

Using Carbon Express Maxima Hunter 350 at 29", factory 3 fletch and approximate weight 420 grains. (Mathews Chill-70 lb draw weight)

Looking for some input

I'd stick with the Muzzy and sort out the difference after hunting season.

I had the same issues with shuttle t's.

I went back to the same muzzy broadhead that I have been shooting for years.   Same impact point as field tips.   Fly true, very consistent.

Did you have similar issues prior to setting as you suggested?

Interesting...Muzzy always have flown great for me as well. Maybe just not worth messing with.

I too shoot those exact broad heads. Muzzy 125 grn 3 blade and I bought two 3 packs of the shuttle T black Ops 125 grain. I was going to switch to the shuttle T's after shooting the Muzzy's for years but the Muzzy's just fly so well I can't make the switch. I swear they fly better than field points with my setup.

I would back off the limb bolts about two turns and see if the variance continues.  Think you are a little too far on the light side of spine.  Makes it difficult to overcome Shuttle-T's turbulent air flow issues with factory fletched arrows.  It's rather surprising just how much difference there is in aerodynamics between right angle trailing edge and an additional .016" in blade thickness!
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

I'd stick with the Muzzy and sort out the difference after hunting season.

I would keep the Muzzy's too since they are working no reason to switch. I used Muzzy this year because when I checked my other broad heads they felt dull and I didn't have time to sharpen them. The Muzzy's worked great hit right on point and left a huge hole in the body.

Interesting.. My broth-in-law shoots a G5 at 65 pounds with the Maxima Hunter 350 29" that seems to work for the broadhead. I like my Muzzies but always wanting to try something else. I'll just stay with the muzzies because I know they work. I have had some proshops mention thats old technologies and my bow would benefit from shooting a newer style broadhead.
