It is kind of true, though.  The amount of rights infringed in the aftermath.  Excluding any links to conspiracy, that day did change part of everyday life.  Creation of Homeland Security, Patriot Act, NDAA expansions, eavesdropping, all kinds of new banking 'red flags', transportation protocols, shipping restrictions, etc.
