Moses Coulee, conditions?
« on: September 14, 2015, 01:07:48 PM »
I hunt coyotes north of Ephrata, winter and spring mostly. I stay out of most of E. Washington once the fire season starts. I'd like to get over later this week, check things out, hunt a bit,  but don't want to be in the way of any fire related goings on. Sounds like it might sprinkle some mid week. I was over in Vantage last week, still so dry over there. Conditions safe to hunt now, Moses Coulee area? Thanks for all your help.

There are no fires that I am aware of in the Moses area. There was a fire about 30 miles north or so of Grand Coulee, but not sure if it is out yet or not. I would assume you will be fine.

You are living in a great spot for coyotes. Get out, do a lot of scouting, practice being stealthy, have fun.

You won't get in the way of fire fighters at the moment, but it's drier than a popcorn fart.  Don't drive through overgrown 2-track trails and you should be ok.  Check skid plates and undercarriage once back on pavement, clear out any accumulated grass.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Thanks, that is good advice.  I am planning on walking in to my spots, so dry. Really hope the rain forecast for Wed/Thurs comes through. I use the NOAA area forecast discussion to help me figure out weather for an area. I am going to bet on some precip Wed/Thurs, try to hunt coyote Thursday late afternoon and early Friday morning. First coyote hunting in Eastern WA since May for me. Looking forward to it.

I drive from Wilbur to Moses everyday for work. I see a minimum of one coyote in the morning, sometimes 3 or 4. Very rich hunting grounds for these dogs.

Is there any public land to hunt up towards Wilbur and AlMira or is it A knock on doors sort of thing?

There is a bunch of BLM land just off of highway 2 east of wilbur.

This is an active map of land ownership in Lincoln County. Use it to find public land. Also just knock on a door of a house that is out in the middle of a field. Ask them if they hear coyotes often and if it would be alright to hunt them. If they say no, ask if they know somewhere you might be able to.

Anyone ever tryout the sagebrush flat wildlife area? It is surrounded by Washington state land but I'm not sure if that too is hunt-able.

I got out Friday morning, early, near Ephrata. It looked like it had rained a bit a day or two earlier. Saw deer but no coyotes, didn't see any fresh sign either. This is an area that usually has lots of sign and usually a coyote or two. Still real dry.

Were you trying private land or feel free to hunt land?

Thanks for giving away my honey hole :chuckle: :chuckle:
There are a couple good spots I know of out this way, on public land.
Right wing shooter, I aim for the left!!!

Nowhere in your incoherent rambling did you come close to what can be considered a rational thought. Everyone is now dumber having heard it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.
