I got to camp on wensday got set up, then on to scouting which we did not see any moose but seen sign again. From there got a plan together of where to start in the morning.

Headed up behind waits lake Thursday morning and hunted pretty hard must have hiked in on 5-6 different spots and called with no moose. Went back to camp had lunch and decided to go to a different spot off Springdale hunters rd. where we ran into some very unfriendly loggers putting in a gate. Got frustrated and drove back to camp. While pondering a different plan for in the morning we decided to walk out behind Camp and tossed out a couple cow calls that were anwsered to imidiatly with grunts. I'm guessing he was about 300 yards away in the trees at this point but moving in our direction. But with us calling and him grunting back he only Came to about 150 yards out still in the trees where he held up. So we decided grunt back at him which made him charge through the trees directy at us. Which was a real rush as this is our first time calling moose ever. He got to 50 yards where we caught a glimpse of him in the little opening in the trees but he was so tall his head was in the branches and could not see horn size. By now it's starting to get dark so we back out slowly to not spook him. Went back to camp and back to the drawing board for the morning. While eating some steak and taters I get a call from a local guy over ther who asked if I would like some help figuring out these moose. Which I was all for so we set up a meeting place for Friday morning.

Friday morning were up at 4:30 making coffee and get our stuff together so we can meet Rodney at 5:30 and learn some a bout moose. We met up and introduced our hunting buddies and followed him up into the hills where we came across a lot of fur and some serious kicked up dirt where 2 moose had been fighting. We  parked the trucks and walked up the road a ways waiting for shooting light. When it was time Rodney started calling moose which produced some grunts up on the ridge that only I heard. So thinking only 1 out of 4 guys hearing a grunt I must be crazy. So we go back to the trucks and head up the road to come around the corner 200 yards up the road and spot a bull. We then parked and walked in to get a good look at him and he was probably 36-37 inches wide so I passed. But we took some pics and Video. While we were doing this that grunting that crazy me was hearing was grunting like crazy. We spotted him 200 yards up the hill in the area I heard him before. When I put the binocs on his head I said that's a lot bigger bull but I have no clue how judge a moose. So I turned to Rodney and said (is that a shooter?) and by the tone of his voice and the YES! I knew that was the one. At this point I have to go back to the truck to get my rifle I put away so I wouldn't get a itchy trigger finger with the little bull. I got in position to take the 200 yard shot and waited for the bull Facing straight at us to turn and give me a shot which he did fairly quick. Couple deep breaths hold and squeeze off the 210 grain nosler long range accubond out of my Remington 300 ultra mag senduro. Thwack! He only made it 50 yards and piled up. Bullet entered in front of his quartering towards me shoulder and wedges in the hide behind the off side shoulder. First bullet I've ever recovered in my life and that beast of a bull took that 210 grain bullet at 2900 FPs and swallowed it. Amazing how thick those bulls are across the body.

To top it off while Paul and I were gutting it out the other 2 that were helping us walked up the road and looked in the drainage to spot 2 more Bulls. And while I'm dealing with my bull. I see 2 others across the ridge in the fire area.  So a total of 6 bulls in the one drainage. And mine was the biggest. Awesome experience with a good friend that took the time off work to experience this hunt with me and 2 complete strangers that just wanted to help which are now new friends. It's amazing how hunting experiences bring people together. That's what it's all about ( good times with good people)

And yes I am the lucky jerk that had 4 points but that shows that anyone has a chance to get drawn.

Congrats again Shaun on a great bull! Here's a few short clips of the hunt for ya. Sorry again for not hitting the record button on the kill shot.

Here's the little guy that was standing right in the middle of the road tempting Shaun to pull the trigger.

Shaun's bull standing up on the hill side checking us out.
