So, after 6 days or so scouting, I spent a day "kinda scouting" with my bow on some drive in country. I saw a few rams that I didn't want to stalk...

Which leads me to September 11... I headed north and put the boat on the river at about 6:30 pm. My plan... get down river about 29 miles... set up camp and bowhunt for 3 days... then put the bow in the case and use the rifle starting the 15th... if need be. ON this section of the Missouri, you are not allowed to travel upstream between June 15 and September 15. You could travel downstream Thursday through Saturday at no wake speed only. That's what I did. That first night I camped about 6 miles down from the launch...

I didn't see a sheep that evening. 23 miles or so to go... Certainly I'd see a pile of them tomorrow!!

Well, at 6:30 in the morn Saturday morning I got in the boat and started putting downstream. It was a pretty morning to be on the river...

However, 5 hours later... I was wondering if there were any sheep in the unit. I knew where I wanted to go and heard it was a good spot for sheep... but man, I figured I'd see all sorts of bands of lesser rams along the way. Naw.

At about mile 27 I did spot 5 rams. Again... one that was "interesting" but not so much so that I gave him much time. The others were all little guys...

The good thing was, I could at least see them on the ridge 2 miles upstream from Camp through the spotter!!!

So... for the rest of Saturday, all of Sunday and All of Monday... I see nothing but a pair of rams...24 and a 30 inches, hanging around on the slopes near camp... I traversed some of the steepest, nastiest country country I've ever been in... this country is so dissected... its unreal. I stood on a ridge and ranged the ridge east of me at 186 yards... I then ranged the bottom of the canyon.... it was 156 or so yards... the chit was steep! and whats crazy was, in 1000 yards, there are 3-5 of those canyons!!!

Looks tame enough... each of those folds... are deep gashes that you DO NOT go through... you have to go wide around them...

Nice
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.
