Can somsone please help
« on: September 20, 2015, 05:15:57 PM »
*QUESTION*

So, a few months ago I had anywhere between 7-10 bulls on camera. Now I'm only seeing one. I honestly didn't expect to see any due to the rut. Why would I only be seeing one with no cows?

PART II
Has the rut officially started? If so about how long will it last?

The Bulls are gone to find the cows or pressure from people in the woods have moved them. Or both. The rut is on and will last to one extent for another few weeks I'd guess.

There's no pressure. Its private land. I understand the bulls will leave, I just don't understand why the one stayed.

Satellite bull?  Perhaps the main herd is close by.

Maybe he got bullied out.

Possibly. He wasn't one of the bigger bulls

What is a satellite bull? This is my first yr hunting elk, and in Washington, so Ive never heard that term before.

They kind of sit back in the brush a little and when the herd bull is preoccupied, they will try to sneak in and out to get a little action from cows that get too close to the edge.

That would make sense. I think they're across the street. I don't have access to those woods though.
