I have to thank Crab creek hunter first and fore most. I ran into to those guys in a rainstorm around midnight on a lightly traveled trail (I think his boy liked the fire!) about 5 years ago. After a few stories and pictures my brother and I vowed to change the way we hunt, where we hunt, and who we hunt with. I've had a 100x more success since that rainy night and he proved to me that the impossible is possible. So hats off to you, that buck is as much yours as it is mine.

I'm pretty sure Crabcreek and RedMist don't know jack about hunting the high country! hahaha jk they're some class guys for sure, and Zane ain't too bad of a ball player either... though I did see him pitch a pretty horrible inning last year! lol jk Zane, give me a call sometime!

I really appreciate the story and pics. It is inspiring to me to go out farther and stay out longer. I do get to do more elk hunting because of the time of year. The early buck hunt just doesn't fit into my schedule at this time. Post what you want and dont worry about what other people think.   Thanks....

Great story, great buck, great pics. I get you on wanting to show the animal, not yourself. I do the same, mostly cuz I'm ugly as hell and don't want to screw up the pic. Inspiration to get into the backcountry for deer. I'm usually tied up elk hunting the backcountry that time of year, but I might squeeze a 6 day muley hunt in.

"...out and up higher more often..."  that's gonna be my new mantra...
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Anyone with half a brain can tell that's a thick buck.  Congratulations.  You did it right.
