Morning Hunt Advise????
« on: September 19, 2015, 09:48:47 PM »
So this evening I took my wife out to try and fill her archery elk tag. We were within 15 yards once without any shot opportunity and then they spooked.  I knew where they were headed so we ran about a half mile to a spot where I thought they would cross the logging road.  To no surprise they showed up exactly where I thought but unfortunately my poor planning resulted in an elk at seven yards  with no chance for my wife to draw her bow. :bash:   They spooked again and headed directly back into the reprod near where we spooked them the first time.  My question is, do you think after being spooked twice they will hang tight in the reprod all night or do you think they will move over night to a different location????

I'm sure some folks will disagree with me, but I've been amazed at how far "seriously bumped" elk DO NOT usually travel.

Many times, I've bumped elk hard and they've been back the next day.

Hit the reprod in the morning, I'd bet they are right where you left them feeling like they are safe in the cover.

Thanks for the advise guys.  We will be headed back in the morning.  Now if they would just start talking that would be great lol.
