Nice buck! I can't believe that thoughs pictures are from Washington. I guess I need to get out and up higher more often. Oh and by the way, I'll mount your buck for $525.00 + tax.

..."out and up higher more often"...

I think that applies to just about all of us... ;)

I guess I need to clarify something here. This is my first post and half a dozen people have emailed me saying to pull the scenery pix because they recognize the spot (to all who do, congratulations, you are a privileged person!) The scenery pix are in a different Wilderness area than the one that I harvested my buck. I thought I made that clear in my first post! I hunted for four days and saw nothing but little bucks and people (where the pix where taken!) Then I went where I know no one goes and shot my buck. If I'm offending anyone still...let me know through a PM and I will yank the pix. I was going to post a bunch of pics of my hunting trips because my friends and wife could care less, but I can't believe the heat I'm getting. Guess I'll go back to the shadows. I usually hunt the Alpine Lakes, Glacier Peak, Pasayten, and Henry Jackson all in the same year. There are not enough big bucks in one spot to hang out for ten days like everyone else does. Hint: hike your ass off until you cut big buck tracks and don't give up until you kill that buck. Am I  out of line here????

I think it looks like that to you because it was shot with a flash and is "long armed" making the flash shadows look like it seperates the two of them, I don't think its photoshopped :twocents:

Huntnphool is right, I was by myself , the first time I used a new camera, I put it on self-timer, broke up the surrounding brush, and took approx. 40 pix "long-arming" it. That is the only pic that turned out with me in it, then the batteries ran out. It sucks but true. And yes, I long arm my fish and game so people can see what the fish/deer looks like, not what I look like.

No heat from me - We have enough people in this state that we are bound to see some pictures of spots we hunt or have hunted before in some of these pics.  Just like there are enough members on this site that I have run into 4 -5 folks I know, Simply from recognizng their posts and pics.
Keep up the good work, we hope to see some strong results in the fall of 2009 as well.

I have to thank Crab creek hunter first and fore most. I ran into to those guys in a rainstorm around midnight on a lightly traveled trail (I think his boy liked the fire!) about 5 years ago. After a few stories and pictures my brother and I vowed to change the way we hunt, where we hunt, and who we hunt with. I've had a 100x more success since that rainy night and he proved to me that the impossible is possible. So hats off to you, that buck is as much yours as it is mine. My Dad has horrible eyesite (born a premy and given too much o2 which fried his vision, then he broke off a steelhead in fast water, the lead shot back and popped his eyeball). so he never hunted mule deer the right way. He still hunted dark timber and got lucky every few years. He is an elkaholic because he can see and smell them first, so I had to learn how to hunt deer on my own

I have not gotten it scored because my Dad wants to bring it to his friend to score at the upcoming sportsmen's show. The mass did visibly shrink since I measured him (the day after I shot him).

I sure got chewed out by my taxidermist for not caping him but I like plaque mounts just as well and you know I don't think I could packed the cape on top of everything, I figured with my soaked wool clothes, day bag and meat that I was packing b/w 140-150 lbs. I figure that if I'm ever rich or have the room for it I'll use another cape.

I'll post some proof pix that it is not photo shop. What a compliment though to be told they are fake!  I've always dreamed of taking a buck in WA that scored 180 (crabcreek set  that benchmark for me that cold night in the woods)

I'll post a few non-identifying photo's when I get back from the brewfest today.

Thanks for the compliment... but it was you who put in the work and effort my dad and I just showed you what was capable of being taken in those remote places that night that most people wont venture... just goes to show what hard work will do for ya... a little luck helps also! Yes I did enjoy that fire I was just a little guy then and was pretty tuckered out.. haha.. hopefully in a couple years I will be able to get back after it again once I finish up with school here on the east coast!  Congrats on your recent years success and in the future... We don't show many of our animals off just to guys that we meet on the trail and putting in the time and effort!  Congrats again on the fine animal!

I didn't see anything out of line highhunter.  Enjoyed the pics and your perspective.  If you got some panicky emails, don't take them personally.  Just people trying to help you protect your honey-holes.  There's always going to be a lot of discussion about a buck this big.
Can't wait to see what you post next fall...
