One thing to keep in mind is that a lot of cops don't know the laws and may not be aware that it's legal to have a loaded handgun in your vehicle while traveling to and from any outdoor activity.

Thanks for pointing that out. That exception does leave a lot up to interpretation (what constitutes a "legitimate outdoor recreation area" for example.)
