World record long shot....

Pretty impressive, but would be more impressed if they did it more than just one time.

Even a broken clock can be right twice a day...

I think those rifles are made in Montana. I wonder how many hours it took to do it. I know the CHEYTAC's are expensive..

I was pretty impressed.   I'm sure if conditions were a little better, they could have done it in less shots.

cant imagine a rifle sighted in and shooting 13 FEET HIGH at 100yds... but you can only dial a turret just so far...

As much as good photography is all about waiting for the right light, a shot that far is all about the wind. They probably had myriad flags for crosswinds across distance and had to wait a long, LONG time between shots for calm wind.

Nice plug for one of our very own, Benchmark Barrels.

I'd like to know what bullet they were shooting, lathe turned maybe, and, besides verrrrrrrrrryyyy longgggggggggggg, I wonder what the time of flight for that setup is.

X2 on the wind.  I've talked to Shawn Carlock about this many times and he always tells me, being good at shooting long distance is all about reading the wind and making the correct adjustment for it.  You can dial in loads and you can build accurate rifles but if you miss the read on the wind, none of that other stuff matters, it'll be a miss.

VERY cool to make the hit but, for me, it would be considerable more impressive if they backed it up with another hit on the next round.  Even if they just barely clipped the edge of that gong on the next shot, I'd consider it much more of a success.

You would think with unlimited resources that one could shoot farther than that.

Oh yea that's what cruise misses are for.  :chuckle:
