Well, during the next few days pale face brother no-hair kept sending pics via smoke signal of goats taunting me about all of the fun they were having feeding them by hand... :bash:

As the weekend approached I made it back up  and decided no going home til I had a goat on my back. As I was sitting their about 4 am the wind started kicking up like a hurricane. The wind direction worked in my favor as I was putting a game plan together. I debated going on the Northside but changed my mind as I hadn't been that way yet and was unsure so I went with familiarity. I decided to walk the entire south face until I found them and make my attack.

As I hiked in I got set-up in a spot that gave field of view of the entire south face right at sun-up. As I glassed I didn't see anything moving so I proceeded west before I hit a wall. I went straight up and man that was a heck of a climb... :bash:  it did however offer quite a sight with the sun cresting the valley.

 As I sat here glassing down below I looked at the peak and decided I was close enough to the top and got comfortable and relaxed, recuperating.

That afternoon I went from the west end to the east end in front back to the west on the backside and nothing. I was getting burnt out and thinking maybe a Nannie wouldn't be so bad right now...I decided to be persistent and I think the heat fried my brain as I wouldn't have done what I had done next if I was thinking clearly...I took a goat trail on the Northside from the peak and went down.

I soon realized this was a bad idea very fast...  :yike:  I don't know why a goat thinks this is luxury living as I'm clinging to trees and praying I don't make a mistake as the downhill fall for sure would be it. I did start to think if in the movie avatar the blue monkeys could jump tree to tree to break their fall I could to. :chuckle:

Sooner than later I was on more level ground and looked back and decided I had just played with fire and lived to tell about it. As I was hiking down I realized I could've taken a orv trail up the Northside much easier climb but longer in distance.

That evening I received some more info about some other areas a little further south of here to check out. As I put a plan together for the end of the week I scoured some routes and maps in case a trail came closer than I thought.

A couple of days later while at work I get some messages that and area I had been in numerous times previously had billies pouring out everywhere.

You know,  I missed a chapter...during all this I went to meet up with an almost annual hunt with another member here. His father in law drew a peaches any bull and since he was limited on time to hunt I was more than happy to meet up again and lend my back to a hopeful successful tag.

As I arrived after they left for the spot I spoke with another sibling still at camp. I got directions to where they might be and off I went.  As The sun came up I was on their trail. Before long i heard the sound of sweet music! A bull was screaming his lungs out. I decided heck I'd see what he looked like at least so I cow called him in my sexiest cow call.

Oh and a quick message from one of my sponsors, jphelps game calls, when you want to bring a bull in on a string ready to mate, nothing else matters, jphelps elk calls.  :chuckle:

Okay back to the story, he came down from up high and ended up hanging about 40yds out just below me. He was a little 4pt rag horn and wouldnt you know it a spike snuck up behind me at 15 yds and walked around me trying to find her. :chuckle:  well after an hour i headed back to the truck as I had not caught up anyone.  We ended up at camp later for an afternoon relaxation. We went for a ride to look at goats but none were out. As we got back to camp we headed out for the evening.  We got set up and soon after laying down a sequence of "I'm easy and ready" cow calling we got an immediate response. He didn't come down far but gave us some hope for the evening. After awhile nothing...just as we relocated a bit I laid down another sequence right before sun down and it erupted. 3 different bulls got fired up. We tried and tried to get to them in time but lost shooting light time. As we walked out in the dark it was beautiful listening to bulls searching for the "easy cow"
