Traditional archery group question
« on: September 09, 2015, 07:14:26 PM »
Hello to all. To all the traditional bow hunters out there what, in your personal opinion, is a "good" practical group at 15, 20, 25 and 30 yards?

Silver dollar sized stickers and 1 arrow per sticker.  Grouping arrows just gets expensive.
Cut em!

Every arrow in the kill zone!

As long as you can hit what you are trying to.
One arrow at a time.
I ruined arrows and targets before I figured this out.
Practice for the first shot, not the follow up.
Then run around until your breath and heart rate are up, try again..  :chuckle:

I have shot traditional for a number of years. The pressure to shoot silver dollars kills a lot of enthusiasm. I sell a life size target cover. I decided to see how many shots were in the kill zone. I have shot 500 times now and only 6 are not kill shots.

That is shooting at 18 yds. at a elk size target. That is as far as I can shoot in my shop. After 1000 shots I am going to take a picture of the target cover and post it.  My thought is that, too many guys get discouraged trying to hit the bulls eye when actually 99% of their shots  would be killing shots in real life.  Relax and enjoy shooting. That what traditional is all about, enjoyment.
