Rifle: 300 rum. Held one but never fired.

Pistol: 45 win mag. Held one but never fired.
I shot one of those. Pat Kelley is an acquaintance of my brothers, They shoot together sometimes and Pat had his Wildey .45 Win mag out at the range when I was there, I that thing is a heavy beast! was a cool experience and Pat is one heck of a nice, patient guy, he let me shoot quite a few of his guns

458 LOTT

That will change in a month or 2 since I have one ordered :IBCOOL:

The one I shot weighed 8lbs without a brake, it was not the most pleasant to handle.  :'(  I did find it to be a neat rifle and I do like the ballistic's on it.

I guess I'm more like the OP's brother in law.  I'm not too interested in the next great caliber.  I don't shoot long range (300 or 400 yards is far) and all normal calibers seem to kill stuff really dead.

I'd like to get into long range shooting though.  If I do, I suppose I'll have to get interested!

Yes, the 45 is nasty. The one i held was an LAR Grizzly 1911 frame. The rounds are so long the grip becomes god awful to hold.

Mine should come in about 10.5lbs and it will have a brake on it for sure :chuckle: I like the bullet choices. I think if I draw another spring bear tag I might have to take the lott!

My grandfather was a great story teller.  As a young boy I remember summer stays with grandpa as the best days of my life.  I know some kids were given bedtime stories about fairy's, friendly monsters or dragons, even fables and nursery rhymes.  Well, not at grandpa's house!!  At grandpa's we were put to bed with hunting stories!

Many of my favorite stories were of hunting blacktail deer in Canada or up by the old camp at Capital Peak.  Most of those were of my grandmothers fabulous feats of accuracy and quick kills using the 25-35.  Probably the reason I am a quarter bore nut to this day.  But, I have not yet shot a single thing with the 25-35.  One of these days I will!  And I'm sure grandma and grandpa will be watching the whole thing from their heavenly perches.

That will be a great day!
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

I'm itchin to get a 460 Rowland barrel and spring kit for my Sig 1911.  Never shot one but everything I read about it sure makes it sound like a lot of fun.  Nearly 44 mag. power in a 1911, what's not to like about that!!

I guess I have been lucky in my life to have shot a lot of different cartridges.  Most that have been listed I have shot except for the really wild stuff like a laser gun.  One that I have never shot and have always wanted to though is the .22 highpower.  If it was made in something other than a 99 I would have owned it by now.  But I am still surprised that I have never known anyone with one that I could have shot.
