Wyoming bound

Well I managed to get 2.5 hours of sleep. Picking up my dad in an hour and headed east! Anyone else making their way to WY or any other states this week?! Good luck, I'll be hunting mule deer.

Updated with story and pix:

my buck.

my Dads.

Seen a nice buck on the side of a private property road.

My dads was first 10 mins of light opening morning. Mine was 4th day evening. I was trying to hold out longer, but it was hard to pass this guy up.

I was walking down a road a lot of people 4x4 down. Was taking my time and glassing the aspen and open sage. Found a forky feeding just out of the aspen so I knelt down and snapped some pics with my camera. All of the sudden my buck appeared.

I called my dad on the radio, second guessing myself if should take this buck. I had plenty of time left and saw a masher buck day before the opener. My dad was already tagged out and glassing a hillside about a mile away. "Well.... It's up to you bud...."

I looked up from kneeling down in the sage while on the radio and it looked like he already had me pegged, only 70 yards just inside the aspens. I figured, well this makes my decision easy, I thought...

Long story short, he ended up feeding through the thick trees and brush, losing him a few times. I moved along the road a little further, maybe 40 yards, until I found him again. Took aim, and took him down with my shot.

Just then a big lifted dodge came around the corner "didga git em'?!" They were helpful and helped me drag him into the sage.

He was tagged and GPS also. I turned it into fish&game. They said they'll send me a letter with all of my bucks info.

Great hunt and lots of game animals over there! Thanks for reading.

Beautiful country over in WY. Tough not to shoot the first decent buck you encounter

A general region over there... Nothing too special but we have a blast each time wev gone. Been a little while. It is very tough to not shoot the first thing ya see when the typical 3 pt is as big as most of the large blacktails you see at home!

Crossing in to Utah now...

In Wyoming now chasing speedgoats, slow day of hunting today only passed about 50 bucks.

In Wheatland now. I felt like I was back in western Washington this morning. Fog was so thick we couldn't see 200'. We will go back at it later today.

Headed out this coming Sunday for Wyoming. We drew a 41-1 group tag for elk. Should be an adventure to say the least.

Heading out tomorrow or Wednesday.  Make camp Sunday and not come out till season over or limited out on elk .  Brother has deer tag too.
