$500 Reward

This note is to the sleaze balls who entered my property last week on Twisp River Road in Twisp WA and stole my propane tank off my trailer. It takes a big man to steal someone else’s property when they are not there. As a hunter myself this action speaks badly to the hunting community when it fact it shouldn’t. But non hunters and residents spread this crap and it reflects badly on the hunting community in general. We have always taken care of idiots who do these sorts of things ourselves and I am offering a handsome reward of $500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of these dirt bags. The property stolen was a 30lbs propane tank. Pretty hard not to see one of these if you know someone who all the sudden has one. The individuals were driving a truck with large wheels, probably 35” Toyos or something similar and left tracks all over my property.  Your name and information will be kept strictly confidential. Serial numbers can be matched on the tank and all we are looking for is a name and address.  Please email info@douglasmillward.com or call the Twisp Police department.

I absolutely hate when I hear about stuff like this. It pisses me off that someone can just walk on to someone else's property and take their stuff. I really hope you get it back man.

That was the first thing I thought of Shrimper but I had a second tank about 1/4 full and they just left that on the ground. The one taken was full.
You know if someone needed propane and they couldn't get any cause it was too late at night or something, that's fine, just return it. Be nice if it was full when returned but just return it no harm done. Nothing burns me more than outright theft.

That's a good question Jackelope. In our little sleepy community all goes on usually without incident throughout the year. Hunting season arrives and hunters fill the backcountry which I have absolutely no problem with. Most complaints come from that time of year from residents complaining about hunters have done this or they done that. For instance a small 1-2 acre fire started last week while the fire ban was on and the camp fire was started by hunters perhaps unaware of the ban or that central and eastern WA had any fires this past summer. Other complaints of trespassing and or theft also happen this time of year so I see how they draw conclusions.
Is it possible hunters didn't trespass and steal my tanks? Yes indeed and I really hope that is the case. But I have to ask the hunting community if they know any information to forward it as we need to all work together to prevent who ever it was from doing it again should it have happened to be one of the many hunters camped out up the road and in the backcountry. I have also posted this on non hunting sites and forums locally directed at any residents who might know of any information. I removed any hunting comments from the post so as to not draw attention to the hunting community on those posts.

Unfortunately many people become "Bigger Idiots" when they think they have to outclass others even if it means stealing from others to massage their minor egos. Some never grow up and deal with reality. A good beating goes a long way to character improvement, IMO.

It's true about the reputation in the Methow and hunters. We have a place in Wolf Creek and hear the gossip. I have hunted almost every day of every modern deer season for the last 26 years out there and there is no doubt we (hunters) bring a few scumbags and have a stigma related to it. Sometimes I wonder if local thief's wait until hunting season to do their dirty work..

I hope you catch them Mountainguide. I plan to be your neighbor some day soon!

I wonder that as well.  I am sure some hunters are $hit heads, but I bet its mostly local tweakers doing it during hunting season.
