Garmin Rino Series
« on: October 01, 2015, 06:17:27 PM »
I wanna pull the trigger on a Garmin Rino Series wither it be the 650 or the 655. i have family that have them and they've gotten me out of a bind. But i know they've been out for awhile now and i was curious if they mentioned anything about about a new version to the series. Hate to buy on now if there's a new one coming out soon..

I have the 655T. The Lith/ion batteries in mine are great and I keep a AAA battery pack as back-up in my pack but have never needed it. If I leave it on  all day long, using the radio, I'll use 50% of the power - that's sun-up to sun-down. If I only turn it on when I need it, I can go almost a week on one charge. I believe the 650 has a larger screen, just no camera. I would go with the larger screen if I had it to do all over again.

The 650 and the 655 series have identical screens. There is a 650 and a 650t. The "t" model includes topographical maps. The 655 includes topographical maps and a camera. They are all physically identical.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

Oh, thanks. I saw one last week and thought the screen looked bigger. I shouldn't drink so much before i go look at electronics!

I used my 650 for the first time yesterday. (Traded for it last week) I got to my cousins truck up in the woods turned it on and went to the Chanel he was on and messaged him. It showed me the location he was at, I grabbed the pack boards and went in the woods.

These are awesome. After my first use I was very pleased with the 650 but I do need to get the topo maps to see elevation changes to better plan routes.
