Climbed St Helens Monday, had a blast

I climbed Mt St Helens Monday with some friends from work. It's something we've been wanting to do.  The Boulder field sure goes on a long way, but all in all a really neat experience

It's worth it, I plan to do it again someday. My legs were pretty shot afterwards, but I should be ready for Elk hunting this weekend. A couple more pictures

Sweet, I did it in June this year.
Much steeper than I anticipated, and more difficult than Mt. Adams IMO.

I did it Sunday.  It was beautiful.

Everyone should consider doing this.  Buy yourself a permit for next year when they go on sale in Feb/March.

My gf and I did it in 3 hours up, 2 hours down.  Trekking poles are encouraged.  Even if you don't buy a pass in Feb/March, there's a pass exchange/sale website for people who buy more passes than they need.

We happened to have fantastic weather and could see Mt. Baker to 3 Sisters.  Its pretty crazy to see the crater still smoking/steaming.

You were really moving to do it that fast.

It sucked.  It also sucks to be bested by your gf...

I would've preferred another hour of sauntering, but we we got a late start.  We're also in pretty good shape from hiking all summer.  I've been up and down the Upper Smith Creek area since I have that elk tag. 

But yeah, we were moving at an uncomfortable pace.
