Did you trip in the mud and fall on a arrow?

Well for the first time I purchased a deer multi-season this year. I have been fortunate in the past to have taken multiple Elk, Deer, and Bear with both modern and archery, but was looking forward to killing my first animal with a muzzy.

This morning I am solo in my favorite area that bucks use as a travel route, and have both my muzzy & bow ready to go (release on one hand, capping stick in the other.  At 6:50 two bucks appear aprox. 45 yards above me, a 2x2 and a 3x3.
I decided to use the muzzy to get it done, Thompson Black Diamond 50cal., 100grains 777 pellets/ 250grain ballistic tip sabot..........broadside deer, open sight right behind the bucks shoulder and 45 yards is a gimme.....BOOM.
Smoke clears and the buck is just standing there, now staring at me, and shows zero signs of being hit.
As a bow hunter, I am thinking to myself, "How in the heck could I completely miss a deer with a gun at 45yards?"
Yes it was a clean miss... :bash: :'(  Gimmee a break :chuckle:, I'm new...buying a peep sight for it now)

I then decide that taking a shot with the bow would be much quicker than reloading, only problem is that the buck has now moved a few yards closer to me and is facing directly at me trying to figure me out.
I have been shooting this bow(PSE Mach X) for years and am VERY confident in my abilities with it, also the country I am in is fairly open, so I decide to take the shot and plan on a back up shot with the muzzy if needed.

40yard pin at the base of the neck...........move an inch to the right......pull the trigger and watch my lighted nock disappear into the bucks neck/chest. He is hit hard and makes it about 10 feet, piles up and rolls down the hill another 20 yards.  :IBCOOL:

Now its time for the work to begin.....this is where it gets interesting.
After checking him out, snapping a couple pics., and notching & tagging, I roll him over to yard the goobers out.

Last year I tried Muley Rocky Mountain Oysters for the first time(not to bad) and the Mrs. has promised to try them this year, so removing them is the first order of business. On my knees, Knife in hand, go to make the cut and.............. :dunno:.......I only see a tiny little bump, and then realize...where in the heck is his Junk???
This "Buck" has no twig, or berries.. :yike: Closer inspection reveals that it is a doe, Yes it has a Vagina. :yike:

I have heard of this scenario before, but have never seen it first hand. I thought that when this happened the antlers were usually stunted and small, and usually never have the velvet rubbed off. But here it is, right in front of me, I still cant believe it.
Not the biggest buck I've ever shot, but definitely going to be one I will NEVER forget, Pretty cool!!!!

I am calling him/her Henry-Etta.

 :chuckle: :chuckle:

And its clearly done a lot of rubbing to get its antlers that dark.  One confused deer for sure.  Wonder how it would act during the rut.

No freaking way!!  LMAO!! Are you serious? I am looking at the pics and see it for myself, but can't believe it.  That is the strangest thing in the world.  I have heard of this, but not with horns anywhere near that.  What am I missing.. Is the joke on me and everyone else here gets it?

No Joke, I still cant believe it.  I am going to give the local WDFW Biologist a call to see what he thinks about it.

It had ALL the working parts of a female,  I wonder if it could get pregnant?  Also now makes me wonder about trail cam pics people have posted of a Bull Elk mounting another bull.....Maybe those bulls are not gay.  :dunno: :chuckle:
