One problem with the 20d there is no counter, so the seller might have an idea but will not really know.

How can you tell?

Canon has software that can read it, any authorized repair facility should have it. I believe Capture One Pro will read it too.

ok I guess I was not specific, yes there is a number, that number will most likely be a guess from the seller. I knew that Canon could see the data, but there is no counter on the camera that the user can see.

I have a way of telling what actuation a raw file is.  For example, Huntnphool's camera has 32866 actuations as of our sheep photo trip.  If anyone wants to know how many their 20D has, you have to email me a raw file picture.  If you want details about this, maybe I'll write it up some time.  I did a lot of research and downloading of programs and finally figured it out.  At this point about any Canon camera can be determined...
