What is the best way to fix that cage?
i straightened it out good and triple set the run lol. I'm thinking about modifying my colony's with a door catch so it can't happen. First time I've ever had anything push threw on a muskrat trap

Attach some #9 wire to the inside of the door in a 'z' or 'u' shape, that will stop it from happening again.

Another thing you can do to stiffen up your doors so they won't bend is to roll the sides of the doors over. For a 6" wide trap you have a 6" wide opening you would normally cut a 5" wide door to fit that opening. Instead cut a 6" wide door and then bend  the sides over at a 90 degree angle so you have a half inch bent over on each side. That stiffens the doors considerably. You will have to bend it completely flat in the corners so it won't leave a gap at the bottom when the door is down.

Few pics from my pre-bait site
For size comparison

These are the best flying squirrel pics I've ever gotten

Ive never seen an ermine that didn't turn white. This looks like a long tail to me and I've never seen anything but short tail weasel around here :dunno:  any thoughts on this?  It's hole is right next to the tree the cam is on. At least that's where it's tracks go

First off this morning I crossed cougar tracks

Then another

Then again few more yards down the trail.

Little ways farther bobcat

Then again but could have been the same cat

But then a second joined it

Get farther up the valley and another bobcat

Then once in the hawthornes found a cougar scrape

Another 1/4 mile crossed another cougar track headed up the mountain

Then that cat was joined by 3 more

Then when headed back to the truck saw fresh tracks of 2 cats where there had been none on the way in

Short bit more and a bobcat is in my trail

And I think the same cat crossed the road again but maybe different

Right by where I had the cat coming at me I heard sounds from up about that sounded like running. I look up the hill to an old skid road that connects to my road up ahead hundred yards and see a cougar running ahead. I yell to my friend I seen the cougar again. He is ahead of me and draws his 357. We all continue ahead on high alert and after getting about 50 yards from the intersection a cougar runs across the road at the intersection. Then a second cat stops right at the intersection for a quick sec then heads after the 2nd. We could hear them talking in the draw below us most the way back to the truck

Would love a cougar trapping season. All these tracks after 2" of fresh snow yesterday and a little rain early this morning

Snow is melting  :whoo: :whoo: pond 2 is open and the beaver are scrounging what ever they can find. Like shadowy slopes said I think these beaver are starving. They are still eating white fir and the last Hawthorne has been reduced to a pointy stump. Today I drug some popular branches that where busted off by heavy snow load to them and made a set right where they come out of the ice.

Pulled most my colony traps cause I can't seem to find any rats? :bash: sat I put out apple slices in all the areas I found rat sign right before Christmas but every one was still there today. Not even touched.

Been seeing coon tracks all over the place so I finished up my coon trap tonight with conibear trigger.  Figure I'll stick the marshmallows on the trigger wires and smother them in grape jam. Then add a touch of " moon shine".

On the bright side I saw no cougar today :Ibcool:

Beavers had everything tore up today, both traps set off and drug out of the way the other pushed down deep in the run. Luckily I had both sets tethered off!

Had a bobcat peaking in my trap. Hasn't gone in but I doubt I'll sleep tonight
