"Started trapping today" is the name of the thread. There isnt a good picture of the trap. The reason I built it is because I actually caught 2 beaver in muskrat colony traps. They destroyed those traps.

My doors are framed in 1/8" round right now.  A friend gave me a bunch of these doors that used to be a small pet fence I think.  But they are a little easy to bend compared to my 1/4" round framed doors.

Frustrating night last night!  I went to north 40 to get my 1st trappers lis and a deer tag. Guy says I'm not in the computer yet for trapping so I give him my trappers ed card and some how he deletes my hunters ed #  so now it won't let me buy my deer tag :bash:  I'll be calling the regional office in Spokane today to see what I can do to fix it :bash: :bash:  at least I got my trapping lis
Hoping i can get this figured out quick so I can take this guy opening day and get back to working on traps!

Same thing happened to me. If you have your hunters safety card it will make it faster to clear up. Olympia had to do it for me.

I called the regional office in Spokane and a very polite lady got it straightened out real quick over the phone   picking up my buck tag right after work 8)

Looks good! Wait until you see what a 50# beaver does to those.  :tung:
Exactly! I don't think those doors will stop any adult beaver until you put 1/4" round frame on it. The 56 lb one I got last year had no prob busting the side out of the first cage and then thankfully forgot about that on the next cage down stream.

Started re-enforcing the beaver colony's tonight. Also built another 6"x6"x24 power door.   Think I may have figured out how to do my double door traps. Hopefully I can put some meat in the freazer this weekend and get right back to work on these traps.  Also picked up some hip waders and started looking around at chest waders.

Finished my beaver colony's after hunting today. Now I'm out of 1/4" round. Think I may have found a place to get it cheap we'll see how it pans out. About out of 1x1x24" too.

Dont try buying your steel from some place like Home Depot, Lowes, or any random hardware store. Price will be way cheaper if you can find an actual industrial steel and metal place. Here in Aberdeen there is Western Steel and their price is much better.

And its worth spending the extra money to buy cold-rolled steel. Much stronger.

ya not a hardware store. I can't remember the name but I know where it is. 20' sticks of cold rolled.  The wire on the other hand I've only found it locally at north 40 in 15'x24" rolls for 12.99. I'd love to find that cheaper and larger rolls. :dunno:

Thanks for the info

Word to the wise, Western Steel is high priced. Same stuff at Chehalis Steel is half the price.

Picked up some more 1"x1" wire and hog rings. Will pick up round rod this week. Got my buck tonight so I'm back to trap building once I get him in the freezer. Gonna be a great year I can tell
