You are kinder than I am! That tweeker wouldn't be doing much of anything but hurting for a few weeks if that was my truck.
if I didn't know the guy it would have been diffrent I'll tell you that. I've eaten dinner at his parents table, I played pool with his father. I hate thieves more than anything but it really broke my heart seeing an old friend doing that!  I think I was in just as much shock as he was. On one hand I was pissed and wanted to teach him a lesson but when I saw who it was I stopped my self.  After the fact I thought I should have stuffed his face in the dirt and called the cops but I have little faith in the deer park Leo's in my neck of the woods we normally just handle things on our own. But when I saw who it was I was over come with sadness. How could I attack an old friend? I have always been taught you forgive and forget.  If he would have been anyone else things would have been very diffrent and I dout I would have posted anything about it due to the 5th.  I talked to his mother tonight and all she could say threw the tears was thank you for not hurting my baby boy. The kid needs help but idk if he wants it. He may yet end up dead but it won't be by my hands unless I'm left no choice.  I hope I never have this situation again!  Most people in this neck of the woods would'nt touch a thing owned by a Tongue and I'm sure he is still sweeting thinking I'm coming after him. But I'm not that guy anymore.  I'm trying to do what's right with out fighting. I truely hope he gets help or he won't live long around here!  I pray he gets that help but I dout it will be in time. Sad deal all the way around!
That is a sad deal. Sounds like an intervention might be in order.

This morning I pulled all sets. With this snow storm coming I'll be plowing snow all night for a few days then I'm headed to davenport to stay till the holiday is over. Hoping I can get some trapping in while I'm there.  Sadly I found a bunch of rat sign while pulling my sets. I'll be back. Had to chisel my beaver traps out of the ice about 2" thick. Beaver have not worked anything since this cold snap has come threw

Ordered some more lure's today from f n t post. Got a cat set put in today. Snow is about knee deep now. Used a sled to get my gear in and out. That helped!  Took it in almost a mile. Hopefully the theives aren't so ambitious. Plus it's all up hill coming back out    I've seen more cat sign in this spot than anywhere else I hunt! Toilet near by as well. Best I can tell its a territory boundary for several cats judging by track sizes (stride and gate and width of tracks).

Didn't get a chance to trap in Davenport but enjoyed the trip any ways.  Glad to be home and back at it.

Well the trip to check my cat set is getting easier and I've been going farther and farther every day picking the trail farther passed my cat set to help hide the set. I walked past it about 1/4 mile today and milled around by the small creek before leaving. A predator hunter came down my trail but never even went by my set. He went farther down and did 2 sets that I could tell then left.  Haven't finished my other cat trap yet I'm waiting on parts from fnt post. Trappen is tough in all this snow!  About 24" in this area and getting more right now

Ran across these while checking today

Then I get to my set and find this

It went every where I been and checked out my trap. Checked the back side and all around the area. It peed where I squirted fox urine on a tree then left.  Glad I didn't run in to this large k9.
First predator sign I've seen in the area since I set the trap. All other predators have been Mia. 20 yards from this spot is normally a heavily used coyote scrape often adorned with scat and urine and scraped up good. I've seen bobcat tracks crossing this exact spot 1000 times. This year everything is different except the tons of rabbit and grouse sign is still very heavy here?  Hope this large k9 isn't running everything off :bash:  hopefully it moves on soon and all will go back to normal.

The first pic of the Bobbie with his head down, looks like a leopard the way his ear markings are.

he is a good looking cat. I hope he shows up to my set soon.  I seen him once out of season and he is big.  Love those pics. That is my friends gut pile from his buck last year.

Made the long trek to the river today.  Got there and I see an otter on the ice. He took off before I could get a pic but he kept peeking back out once in a while. Wish my order would hurry up so I can finish my trap projects! I think I know where that otter is denning. Super excited about that!!!

A nice otter would be pretty cool. Hope you get a cat soon.
