I'm tempted to pull all my sets and focus all my efforts on beaver till I get some good cat bait

have a fresh lamb head in one and a mostly skinned out feral rabbit our neighbors dog killed in our yard. Also feline fix lure and cravens timber inside and some secret call lure outside the set.  Lamb head is the one getting attention

Sounds like a tasty combo.
I've been researching lures. Especially long distance lures for up high. Any suggestions?

i can't share the secret call lure I was given but I have had some interest with craven's "gusto" you can  smell this stuff long before you get to your set and I can tell you you do not want any spilled in your truck. Not even the tiniest drop. I triple zip locked it

Finished my first floating muskrat trap today.

Inside view

Im trying a new door on this one and I also made door catch hooks. It is WAY stronger than the other technique I was using! The door is pretty strong but adding the hooks Made it 10x harder to push threw!

Before stabilizer bottles where added

I don't know much about trapping, but I continue to enjoy your posts. Do you just have the trap floating because they need to smell the bait or why? When I was a young man I visited Louisiana and the turtle traps I helped set had to be a little above water because they didn't want them drowning before they had a bunch to butcher. Anyway keep the posts coming.

its just another tool in the bag.  The floating trap has the extra capacity to catch more rats because they can't bite the doors and block others from coming in. It is baited but also muskrats like eating on spots just like the trap so I think it's a little more inviting then a colony trap in their run.  Plus I don't have to worry about the doors getting jammed up with debris making it useless

Come on what's the hold up
had to check my cat sets :chuckle: still no cats. Freshened the bait with bloody rabbit livers, heart, and lungs. Will most likely move these sets this weekend. Seeing plenty of bobcat sign down by my beaver sets and it will speed up my checks.

Was wanting to trap the long tailed weasel that was frequenting my bait sight(still no cats there either) so I set a trap with a quail carcass. Then swapped out sd cards and left. Get home a see I had a mink in there 4 days before that.  Check this morning and I see the door's down.  As I walk up I hear this horrible squealing sound from the trap. I uncover it to find the mink.

Man is this trap stinky!!!  Here is the scream

How does one use the glands at a cat set?
It's not the size of the trophy that make's it a trophy.

You may just be one person in this world. But you may be the world to just one person.
