While checking my cat set today I run across the big k9 tracks again, fresh from last night.  Was wondering why I had'nt seen deer for a few days.

Found an otter toilet right near a beaver hut I hadn't noticed before just farther down stream than I been trapping.   I may target this area till beak up.

 sweet deal. Hope you get an otter. Now the k9 tracks those guys can all go take a long walk off a short pier as far as im concerned.
It's not the size of the trophy that make's it a trophy.

Had cougar tracks on mine again last night and the wolf checked out my cat set from a few ft away.

i do feel very fortunate to live, hunt, and trap where I do.  Paradise!  This area is big with a lot of trapping potential.  Next year I hope to long line it. Few places I've scouted I think would take me a month to cover. Need more traps and funds lol

Nothing in the traps today but I saw 4 cougar today. I'm guessing it's a mom and 3 sub adults but they all looked pretty large. They scattered when I rounded the bend so I didn't get a real good look but from the tracks one is larger that the rest. They had a kill just off the trail 50 yards or so. :bash:  a lot of deer seem to be packed in this area right now, I seen at least a dozen today.  We have way too many predators around here!

Man if I could I would! I'd set my trap right there with their kill in it.    It's like this every year that we get snow. The deer pack in this valley and the cats do to. Problem is it's tons of cats. I'm finding cougar scrapes all over too. Here's one I found today about 1/8th of a mile from the kill. There was no poo or spray sent but his tracks went right too it and then left a different direction.  Looked like a big tom. We got 2" of new snow last night and I saw cougar tracks every where I went today. It's just crazy how many cougar we have in this valley!

i would say monthly but in the winter it's normally more than that. To be fair about it tho I also average 100-150 days a year in the woods. So my chances of seeing cougar are prob higher than average too
