The trap being bowed out is just the beaver pushing his back against the top and the bottom with his feet. Shows the trap has experience.

  it's held up well with the large beavers. After the first escape I got nervous and I wasn't sure how it would hold up with these big beaver.  Happy this design has worked so well.

This one was a little smaller than the first one.  Boy was I missing my pack frame! Trap is 3/4 mile from the truck.  I stuffed the beaver in my hoody and tied the waist shut, then tied the arms together and used it like a shoulder bag. Lol I bet it looked like I had a huge man purse walking threw the woods :chuckle: hope I didn't pass any cams :chuckle:

Right on  looks like a nice beaver. I had a couple pack outs like that before I started using my pack frame myself.  If I want to garuntee a large beaver, all I need to do is forget my pack :chuckle:

Well I've been having my swim threw set off almost every day. I decided to move it to the next run over and fence it off heavy cause I think they where sitting on top of it as it was just deep enough a beaver could sit there and eat. I also set 4 mink traps today with bloody beaver heart and lungs and a slab of beaver meat.    Took the freshest beaver carcass and wired it to a tree a little down from one of my cat sets. Put a cam on it so we'll seen if that cat comes back.  Found out the wolf is actually a HUGE! Dog. Looks like a black Saint Bernard!  He set off my coon trap and peed on the door :bash:

no they are power doors. And very fast even under water.

Otter can beat powered doors in a four foot trap. Remember fast and agile.

Try setting a stout cage trap ON the otter toilet and shovel the scat into the back of the trap.  Better yet, shovel scat from the furthest away toilet into the back of the trap and hang a twig with a bit of gland lure behind the trap pan so that the otter cannot put his nose on the twig without putting his feet on the trap pan/treadle.

i been thinking about doing a 5'or6' swim threw. A lot of areas I have set are long narrow runs and I've sat till dark watching these beaver hits and I often seeing them swimming in a straight line almost nose to tail. I wonder if I could get some doubles and otters with a few longer swim threws
