2015 Fall Bear Hunt
« on: October 19, 2015, 08:01:30 PM »
I've been "bear hunting" for a few years now and have only seen one.  I use to hunt in 660 on some old Port Blakely land, then it became a Discovery Pass area, gate removed and it became flooded with hunters during deer/elk season.  Lots of clear cuts, just never any luck.  This year I thought I would try unit 636 North of Wynoochee Lake.  I heard that there are typically a good number of bear in that area.  I went up a couple of weeks ago to take a look.  Didn't see anything.  It was very quite up there.  I didn't come across any signs - maybe a couple of dated ones nothing that looked very fresh.  Anyone been up in the area before?  Late October early November is it more likely that I will have better luck down lower closer to the river?  Assume they won't stay up at the higher elevation that late in the year.  Thanks for any feedback/advice.
