Remington 700 Mags
« on: October 22, 2015, 07:52:50 PM »
Im changing my Rem 700 bdl in 06 to a mag fed and doing away with the trap door. I have 2 questions. Does anyone make a factory style mag that holds more than 4 rounds? What is the name of the guy in ID that normally comes to the WAC gun show. I cant find the thread that his name and # was provided. I think it was the thread for the guy that needed a 6.8spc mag for his ar... Spent a bunch of time looking and cant find it.

Check legacy sports. I think they have what you want. New bottom metal and 5 and10 round mags.

I guess i should have clarified, I changed my gun over to accept Remington factory style mags so im looking for an 8-10 rounder that will fit the factory bottom metal. It appears that most of the options so far require different bottom metal.

Your prob gonna have to change your bottom metal again to get a 10 round mag for a long action.

Really? is the mag attachment system proprietary or some thing? Im just really surprised that no one would build them... Perhaps i will just stay with 4 rounders for now.

I guess I should have started a thread before I ordered up the bottom metal and a mag.  :bash:

Perhaps I should ask this question instead. Which manufactures mag conversions would you get and why? Price is a consideration, and I would like to have multipal mags to fit my rifle. This gun is mostly a hunter, stainless laminate wood stock in 30 06. I guess i just like the idea of mag fed and the option of 10 rounds in the rifle... Might take it to ID and wouldnt want any wolves to get away due to reloading!  :chuckle:

If you want one that reliably feeds well I wouldn't go bargain basement.  This is one of those areas you get what you pay for.  I have a 223 I had a HS Precision detachable mag system installed in and a 30-338Lap Imp. that has a Seekins Det. mag system.  Neither is cheap but both work extremely well and neither is just a simple drop in install.  Both will require a slight amount of work.

If I was putting one in a Rem 700 for an 06, it would be an easy choice, I'd use the HS Precision Det. Mag system and be done.
