Story.......  The Elk were quite and there was alot more people in the area than normal.    The elk only bugled one morning and my buddy with a bull tag missed his opportunity. By that evening they were quite again. We even went out at night and could not get a response.  Never even got anything to come in silent.  Just spend time putting miles on and poking around where the elk like to live.  The spike was bedded with another and when they stood up I called to stop him them let his air out at about 35 yards.(shot a little high, thought it was 40).
The bear was actually more fun than the elk. I was still hunting some timber and spotted him about 60 yards away grubbing around the ground. Snuck within about 30 yards and stepped above an elk trail to get a shot.  The bear turned onto the trail I was on and came to me. Stopped at around 10-12 yards  (think he smelled me after a week without a real shower)  zipped one through him and he let a roar, went crazy for second then ran back down the trail about 40 yards and fell over. It was neat stuff.
