Best route from Washington to Conrad, Montana
« on: October 06, 2015, 05:15:30 PM »
We are heading to Montana this week for our antelope hunt and I was hoping to get some opinions on the best route to travel.  I will be towing a 19 foot travel trailer.  When we went in 2013 we went I-90, cut over to Helena, then went north on I-15 through Great Falls and on up to Conrad.

When we came home it was suggested that we take an alternate route that went more West and avoided going through Great Falls and Helena. Looking at a map, I can't figure out the exact route we took back to Washington and I was wondering if any of you have traveled to the Conrad area and could recommened a better route than taking 90 to I-15.  It seemed like our return trip was actually faster than the trip there but Google Maps says the I-90 to I-15 route is the fastest.   :dunno:

Take 200. its just north of Great falls and comes out at I-90 just a couple miles east of Missoula. Its a pretty drive . Might be a little steeper route but not by much.

200 is a good choice, parts are pretty twisty and all 2 lane... or ya can stay on the 90 about 50 more miles and take 12 to Helena and up 15.. little faster with more interstate, but going thru Helena ... no way would I take 90 all the way to 15...  another option is ya want to see some beautiful country is hwy 2 from Spokane up thru Kalispell, past Glacier and on to conrad... all 2 lane
