Broke down and did it, Vortex Viper HD's

I did it. I've had my eyes on them for a while, and finally bit the bullet. Going to try them out scouting this weekend. Looking for some other people that have them and like them to help me justify breaking the news to my wife!

I've been thinking of doing the same thing. I have the diamondback 10x42. But want a little better. Not willing to pay the top dollar for Swarovski,Leica, or ziess. Also been looking at the razors but damn that's some money for me.

Im jealous. I was about to pick up some of these a few weeks ago then the dog broke a tooth and so my fun money went to the vet instead.

I've used Nikon Monarchs for a long time now, but the last 2 pairs had faulty eye pieces, and on fogged one me. They were replaced but I felt it was time for something new. I walked outside Cabelas yesterday evening in low light misty conditions with the Monarch 7's, whatever Cabelas brand comparable glass, and the Viper HD's. I immediately put the Monarch's down, they didn't have a chance. The Cabelas brand binos were surprisingly good, but the Viper's were that much clearer, crisper, and brighter. I'm going to enjoy using them I can tell already.

I bought them in the spring. Great glass for the money.

I think you've got to spend quite a bit more to find a set of binos that's any better. IMO, they are a wise investment, congrats!

Luckily the Mrs. loves deer and elk, so I told her that they are an investment into my ability to find animals better and bring more meat home. She is on board
Now I have to perform!

Great choice!
The binocular I use more than any other we own is a Vortex Viper 6x32. FWIW, we own Leica, Leupold, Swarro, and Nikon EDG & Monarch X binoculars. I am not going to say that they are in the same class as some of the others we own, they are not, but they are also not in the $2K price range either.
I use it for blacktail hunting when I am still hunting and want FOV plus DOF in a compact package. I use them for watching rodeo and sprint car racing for the same reason. They are just a great little all around binocular. They are not all that good for glassing for varmints or open country big game, they are not even a good pair of binoculars to have w/you in a stand right at dusk or dawn, but they are really a pretty darn good pair of binoculars and if they were 8x42 or 10x42 and had better low light performance they could make a great binocular for someone who only owns one pair.
The Viper binocular is my choice at that price point and certainly does not give up much to Razors or the Alpha binoculars from Swarro, Leica, Zeiss or Nikon.

I got the 10x42. Used them scouting last weekend and was very impressed with them. Much better than the Nikons I used before. No looking back.

I've got the Cabela's Euro HD 10x42's and really like them. One of the eyecaps came loose a couple of years ago so I took them into Cabela's and walked out with a brand new pair of the same.
