Question on moose points?
« on: January 17, 2009, 12:21:17 PM »
I put my 2 of my sons in for the youth moose permits for 5 or 6 years. Will those points carry over as they are now adults? Also they haven't applied for moose for the last couple of years. Does that mean those points are gone?

I believe they keep them from youth to adult.  I'll have to look to see if they always keep them or if they lose them.  Many states you lose them after 1 or 2 years of not applying.  I'll see if I can find that for you.

This is from the FAQ's on the WDFW website:

Quote
Q: Will I lose all my points if I skip a year?
A: No. You are in the permit drawing system for the life of the system. Your points will be waiting for you when you apply again, even if it is several years.

Here's a link to it if you have any more questions about it:     http://wdfw.wa.gov/faq/wpsfaq.htm#21

Thanks for the info. I just got done reading the long moose thread from 08 a little while ago and got thinking that I should continue to put those boys in for draws.  I've never put in for permits but as I get closer to retirement I think I better start building up points.

Glad to help. Oh, and the FAQ's probably won't address the "youth" issue but I can tell you, a moose point is a moose point. It doesn't matter what moose hunts your boys applied for, they gained a "moose" point each time they applied.

Don't forget that if you don't tag out, or draw a cow only permit and kill a cow you can continue to apply in the future.
