Sometimes all you need is a little luck!  With my ankle being badly hurt I said I was still gonna try.  Went up friday and seen a few deer, all I could do was watch a clearcut because I could not hike at all.  Same thing saturday seen deer but no shooters.

So this am I slept in (ankle said enough is enough).  Packed up camp, packed my rifle and bullets and left about 10 am headed for home.  I spot a doe bedded up as I was driving down the forest road and look behind her and all I could see was antlers!  That truck and trailer came to ALL HALT!!! I jump out dig out my rifle, found a bullet and steadied up on the buck.  He just stood there at 75 yards with no care in the world..  He had 8 does and one of them was blocking his boiler room.  Im thinkinghe is gonna bolt at any second and I snuck one high behind his neck and above the shoulder.  Boom! Dirt nap!!! Notice the red blood where I shot him.  It was that or in the head, didnt want to mess up his horns.  The .300 RUM tends to tear stuff up bad..

My 500 sitka gear, 3000 dollar rifle, 600 dollar binos, and all that other crap was not needed. Sometimes all you need is LUCK!!!  I guess now Im a road hunter!!!

I dont care how old I get everytime I shoot an animal I get excited as a 5 year old in a candy store..  Im really happy with this buck! 3x4 with mass!! Euro mount is forsure on this guy..
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.
