Bison work
« on: August 03, 2015, 11:03:41 AM »
I am inquiring as to who on here knows an experienced taxidermist with the skills to work on a Buffalo.  I am wanting to know the ball park figures for a fully tanned buffalo hide with hair on and other tanned for leather without the hair.  Also what would a head mount set me back?  I am just lining up my options for this fall.  The name of an experienced taxidermist anywhere between here and Montana would be greatly appreciated....thanks much

Deadwoodbuck,

Your going to find that the Prices you are looking for are going to be all over the board, depending on who you take it to.  I don't even know what the Average is anymore for A Tanned Bison Hide with the Hair on.  I charge $20 per sq/ft.  I'm going to say your going to find prices between $16 and 25 sq/ft.

As far as a Mount goes for just a Standard Shoulder Mount I'm $1350 but your probably looking in the neighborhood around $1200-$2000 depending on who you take it to.  Those are the Prices I have seen.

In addition to price I'd find out how long of a wait time the taxi guarantees. No point in paying a good price if it takes five years to get it back, unless you don't mind a five year wait.
