It was like fourth of July today
« on: October 17, 2015, 07:01:18 PM »
Ended up not being too bad. We had five floater decoys out and six full body decoys. I decided to use a small setup due to how much pressure there would be today. I did not call at all today

It sounded like a war zone your way.  Holly smokes there was a lot of shooting going on.   :chuckle:

It was still a great hunt, while my buddy and I waited for legal shooting hours I told him I would be happy if we both got one duck each. We ended up with eleven due to getting our limit of hens. Its hard to spot some of the drakes since they do not have their plumage fully in.

H20fowler if your ever interested in doing a water fowl hunt let me know. Would be more then happy to have you join.

Had a good time yesterday for the opener. Buddy and I both got a limit but had to work and be patient for them.
For those that didn't read the regs quite well enough, the WDFW has enacted a 25 shell limit per person when hunting all WDFW lands at Nisqually. The Nisqually refuge already enacted that limit so please, abide by the laws and stop sky busting. Lots of folks yesterday that shot WAY over 25 shells.

Your dog is giving you the look look like " do you really need the flash from you camera on". Nice limit!

my boys wanted to hunt the water off one of the accesses since he has been scouting and seeing tons of birds out on the water..  I tried to tell him that it was going to be PACKED WITH HUNTERS.  being he has never seen what opening day was like here he stuck with his guns and had me drop them off at 3:45 am at the access...  well needless to say there were already 9 or 10 vehicles there.  they got out grabbed they bags and stared to go. by time I turned around and headed back to the farm. I get the call "come get us".. there are headlights everywhere out where we want to go   :chuckle:. we watched at least another 10 vehicles drive by toward the accesses while we were setting up in the field.
we ended up  dropping the birds that came into our set up but it wasn't fast and furious without the weather but it sounded like you said THE FOURTH out in both directions of the bay. hope everyone had a great opener and 11 is good considering we figured by the sounds of it there were guns everywhere out there

It was pretty quiet on Sunday.  Saturday must have worn everyone out.  Or they put a big dent into the local population.

Sure seemed as though that sun would not rise fast enough. 7:05 the shooting began at our cast blast, with smoke clearing out soon after. I put two new fellas on the X and set mysef and a buddy up 150yds away on a past honey hole. Vast numbers of birds and crappy shooting makes for a good ribbing. 5 fresh silvers and the new pup did outstanding making every retrieve both days.
