Heard a shot and a quick follow up shot earlier this evening. A couple miles away I think.

Nothing came by our way though. Trying again tomorrow!

Does it seem that the rut is coming on already? One of the pics he stated the buck was sniffing a doe and another guy said he seen a buck with a few does. That tells me the rut is here or close, what do you guys think?

Toutle high country both Saturday this week and last.  We saw no bucks or any sign of rut activity.  Usually rather easy to tell when rut is about to kick off up there.  Guess maybe we should head toward the coast!  Nice bucks guys.

Seen a couple doe and one spike ..Got some light rain this morning and that may change things a little ...I do know the low land bucks are starting to come into rut ...I seen a 3 pt that was hit by a car and his neck was swelled up like a basketball ....Good luck to the rest of you guys !!!!

Nice bucks indeed.

Took my boy out to try to fill his doe tag in NW. Stella/504.  Heard one shot at first light.  Deer were not moving at all.  Bumped a bedded buck that ran into his maze of tangles.  Sent the boy in to chase it.  Funny as hell to hear him trying to catch up with that thing in the brush!

Went out from 0530-1100, did not hear a shot fired. I saw no deer or elk today. Had an interesting conversation with a chipmunk. He tried to explain what I was doing wrong, but I could not understand him. I will head back out after the game.

I nailed this big boddied studd yesterday kreepin on a doe, He is stinky and old. I was only able to spot front bottom teeth that were pretty loose. If anyone has any other suggestions on aging a deer I would like to know.

My daughter got her buck (2 pt) on Sunday and it was very stinky.  I was able to find it in the timber and chest high ferns with my nose.

I agree, I have seen some great big, heavy rack, two points.  They are not "that" common where I hunt, but there are usually a couple hanging around if I really go looking for them.  One year I am going to have one mounted, I think they are great looking especially when they lack brow tines.

Dropped this guy yesterday at 2pm to while my buddy was gutting his deer. It was a tough 10 foot shot.

That looks like the one I missed yesterday in your neighborhood.  Came in to a rattle, peeking at me from behind a Christmas tree.  All I could see was his nose/eyes, black crew cut, and a bit of bone.  Stupidly, I tried to shoot him in the nose at about 35 yards and choked on the shot!

I'd like to see the old fat boy that left these tracks last night.  Looks like he was following a doe and fawn in and out of 15 year-old reprod.  Splayed toes, even on firm substrate, presumably from dragging all that weight around for so long.

I did that once.  My buddy and I were gutting a deer and both of us looked up and saw a big two point coming straight towards us.  We snuck off into the brush and just let him keep coming and when he was twenty feet away I gave him a load of 00 buck in heart/lungs.

That's what I am talking about!  Big mature two-point blacktail bucks are pretty classy looking deer.
