Sorry if I am being confusing, I get this is a bow hunter thread, but when you mentioned the range I assumed that meant rifle as well.

No problem.  It is limited to public use for rifle and pistol but the Monday night shoot is quite popular with bow hunters because of the access, range use, and two 2alk through courses. They do have events posted online open to the public from bullseye pistol to the 500 yard rang events.

Correct, they can join competitive events and scheduled practices when held as well.  Thanks for keeping me in line H20...   ;)

Rifle and pistol ranges are not open to the general public except for hunter sight-in weekends in September and October. We usually refer public target shooting to the Kenmore Gun Range located in Bothell, WA or Everett Sportsman's Club on Ebey Island, Everett WA.

All competitive events and practice schedules on the Range Calendar are open to non-members and the general public. NRA membership is required to nationally register your competitive scores. NRA membership is recommended, but not required for practice times.

Good Morning!

I am preparing to move to Seattle next weekend from Baltimore. I just started bowhunting this past season here in Maryland, Ohio, and Kentucky. I am looking forward to the challenge that Washington will bring but am looking to get some insight into where I should start out there. Also am interested in an experienced hunting partner who can help show me the ropes and is willing to hep me learn more as I grow as a hunter. Based on the posts on this thread, I thought this would be a good place to start and reach out in this forum.

Welcome Bowhunter35!
Where in the Seattle area are you going to reside?  I made the move from the Philly area about 8 years ago.  I'm happy with this area of the country, but WA hunting regulations and permitting just flat out sucks.
As far as deer hunting, you'll have to let us know what species you want to hunt.  On the West side (west of the Cascades), there are Blacktail.  On the East side of the state, you'll find Mule Deer and Whitetails.  All have different techniques.  The most challenging will be hunting Blacktails.  However, there are places to hunt for BTs within an hour+ of Seattle.   If you decide to hunt Muleys or Whitetails, you'll have a good drive from Seattle to get to them.  There's also elk to hunt, but you'd better be in good shape!
Look us up when you get out here and we'll probably have another get together.  It's really just social, telling stories, and talking about hunting a bit.

Another thing that I suggest is to go to the Snoqualmie Chapter Mule Deer Foundation Banquet on June 4th.  It's about 15 miles East of Seattle on I90 in the town of Issaquah.  Send me a PM and I'll get you some info on it.
As for the other "members" of this Exclusive Snohomish County Bowhunters Club, I expect you all to be at the Snoqualmie MDF banquet!!!

Dave
