I'm about to lose 1/3 of my hunting season. I bought a new boat first week in September (lund 18ssv), figuring it would give me a month to get it rigged up as I bought a bare hull. The motor I have has remote controls so I had the dealer order a side console from lund and was quoted 3 weeks for delivery. No problem as I was going deer hunting during the waterfowl opener and should have plenty of time.
3 weeks pass and I start to get worried about timing so I contact lund. They say the dealer called in the order a week after I paid them and they build each console to order which takes 3-4 weeks. I finally receive a package from lund last Tuesday and they got the order wrong! They only sent one of the three pieces I need. Dealer says lund messed up the order and it's gonna be another 3-4 weeks.
I'm looking for input on what I should do to not miss a month of duck hunting. These are my thoughts but maybe someone here has an idea I'm not thinking of.
1. Ask for a refund and buy a tiller for my current motor (guessing cost would be 1000-1500). Not a big fan of tillers, just sold my previous jon boat that had one.
2. Buy a tiller motor off cl (there's an older 30hp Yamaha listed for 1800) and sell it after the console arrives. Might take a small $$ loss but at least I won't miss a month of hunting.
3. Use my 15hp kicker motor. Boat would be painfully slow, but cost would be zilch.
4. Let the boat sit and focus on walk in hunting at some of the qh sites.
Thoughts?
