Selway-Bitterroots
« on: October 20, 2015, 10:14:11 PM »
Ok guys I need a little guidance. A buddy and I are heading for unit 17 in Idaho the second week of November for Mule deer. Now just wondering if anybody has had any experience with this unit? We will be going in by foot so keep this in mind. Any help would be appreciated and if you have had any experience here please share. Thanks Fella's

I went In with horses from nez perce pass outside darby. Rode 32 miles total and did not see much at all, it was august and we were scouting to potentially go in for elk in sept. The part of 17 we were in was ground zero for the wolf transplant and I know that was a big part of the problem wolves were howling outside camp a night. This was over ten years ago. Things may have changed but I would not go in to 17 from that side especially if on foot just was not much game.

Pretty much the same for us, we often hunted Hells Half Acre by horse/mule but the wolves have all but cleared out the entire area since "they moved in".
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!

Forget Vance creek, mcgruder,  or beaver
Or beaverjack.   I know this unit. When I get home and map up, I can tell u more
