The grouse roundworms are back!
« on: November 11, 2015, 06:20:46 PM »
hi, y'all
just finished cleaning a plump ruffed grouse i knocked over down in the skookumchuk region today, and, lo and behold, several 2-1/2" long, 1/32" thick white worms turned up in the carcass.  they were dead--stiff and unresponsive--but definitely residing in the bird, which otherwise seemed quite healthy, though dead (thanks to the .22 barrel on my little .22/410).  i haven't run into this before, though somebody commented on it in this forum a few years back.  according to the internet, grouse become more vulnerable to roundworms when it's dry--what?  in the great northwet?  can anybody say "climate change?"
mind yer topknots!

Never noticed worms in grouse on either side of the state...pics?
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Are they in the meat or the cavity, or both?
