Public ground. First light. Had an intense stare down with him before I could confirm he was legal. Great hunt!

Do you need glasses to see he's legal? Maybe I should hunt with you as your guide....

I just needed a bit more light to tell that he was legal! I could tell it was a nice deer, but didn't want to risk it.

It was a 4x5, but not by much.

Looks like he has a large body too. Would be nice to know how much meat you get.  :hello:

"Looks like he has a large body too. Would be nice to know how much meat you get."

I don't own a scale, but it was definitely a big bodied deer. I got over a 5 gallon bucket full of soon-to-be burger and sausage meat, and also cut out some big rump roasts and steaks, as well as the straps and loins. It's body was bigger than a 4x5 I shot in a similar area a couple years ago. Much more mass in his antlers too. I'd imagine he was 3 1/2- 4 1/2 years old.

I'm terrible at judging what a buck would score. For the pro's out there, what do you reckon this fella' would score???

I can post more pics too, if that would help.
