It's a new pay to play hunt club in Skagit Valley.  The question being asked is if anyone is a member or has tried them out.

Membership fee doesn't seem to bad but I would be interested to know what the fee to hunt each property is and what the availabilities really are.

I remember hearing something about this set up.
After looking at the website- pretty sure I am going to puke.
I am sure there will be a bunch of people who think this is great- but not me. If this is where we are headed, I feel like my son will never experience real hunting in the future. I Hate what is happening (happened) to this sport!
I am surprised there is not an option to purchase individual birds with the field you rent? "I'll book field six, with a couple of snows, three mallards and two hen greenwings..."

I am not a waterfowl guy but, I agree with your sentiment on this. Feels dirty.

I think its the way things are headed.  More and more land owners, of even marginal hunting property are getting leased up by outfits who want to make a few $.  If the property is even near decent ground, they are leasing it up to prevent others from hunting it and possibly calling ducks and geese off of their clients.  They may never even hunt said property, but they lease it up all the same.

I think its the way things are headed.

I predict California styles rules and pricing. Look at how expensive duck clubs are down there, and how many rules the reserves have...it's coming for us as well, only a matter of time when.

I don't see any problem with it, the price seems like a very reasonable way to get access to some private property without having to find it and knock on doors.  The only thing I wonder is how good the properties are and how many people they let on per day.

OK, I just looked a bit deeper and you do get exclusive access, but it looks like you have to pay twice?  Once for the "membership" and then again for each hunt.  So, the 3 hunt membership may cost you $100 per hunt.  Maybe not a bad deal if you can split the cost of the hunts.

It's a joke.  I watched some guys lease one of the spots and sky bust a few snows out of the location.  Next day another group that must have shot half a case of ammo.  I hope the fold quickly like the others do!

I have also seen the same type of skybusting.  I have hunted some of the fields they have before and most of the time they are not that great until the geese hit them.  Ducks are really hit and miss on some of them.  I did notice by clicking the field locations at the website it brings up the price range per field and along with the membership it could get quite expensive.  I do feel bad for the Seattle hunter who might buy in and not be able to scout because it could be a huge frustration.

Seems a little pricey. I get 460 acers with 4 ponds on it and the farmer leaves a ton of standing corn on it for us. All for $1000 a year, that includes insurance.

I think knocking on doors is a far better option than this "club".

Sounds good for them Seattle guy's!!! Stay south!!! Don't need anybody else up north throwing there $ around looking for a place to hunt!! Lived in skagit 33 years and tired of rich guys buying up all my old hunting access!!! Even the bay is getting busy!!

We would but people get mad when we set up and shoot the birds on Green lake!

Or you could just save your money and go to Canada and crush more birds in two weeks then you would in a couple years of this pay to hunt type crap. Is it really coming down to this? Sad
