Atlas bipod
« on: October 28, 2015, 01:06:23 PM »
Who has one and are they any better than the harris bipods? Also what would you call the short piece of rail that mounts on the stock which the bipod attaches to.
Thanks caleb

They are rock solid and offer a variety of different solid positions rather than just up or down. They mount to a picatinny rail. I run the leg extensions on mine

a Harris is much faster to deploy, and when you add spikes to a Harris, they freakin ROCK!!!

I have my harris on a rail mount with a cheap caldwell adapter.

This is my first year with a bipod. I picked up a 9-13" pivoting Blackhawk! And it works just one. edit: fine.

There's a reason they cost so much more. They will out pan, tilt and cant the Harris. Is it better? Yes. Is it more practical for a hunting application.....that is a personal choice. If you buy one because it's "the best" you should be rockin' a Hendzoldt too.....because, it's the best.

Sometimes the best tool for your job isn't necessarily the best tool....

:yeah: I can't think of a single shot I've made where I would blame my Harris bipod for a miss. I probably will end up with an Atlas at some point though just because I do see some applications where it may be a better match.

I thought the Atlas was a little less weight than harris, that's why I put an atlas on my high end ar. Icbw though, wouldn't be the first time!

I have a big harris sit down and shoot style but have never been around an atlas or know anyone who has one. They look the be better engineered "sturdier" than a harris i plan on putting it on a 338 lapua i bought from a memeber on here.

I have seen them all, I think the Sinclair Tactical is the best made and most adjustable.  I don't know if a person needs it but.....

I have seen more broken Atlas bipods than any other quality bipod system.
