One of the guys in our Utah camp whacked a nice 6X6 at medium range with the 6.5-284. Busted him up good. I was left impressed!
Here's a 140gr SMK @ 2850 fps smashing through a bull elk @742 yds. With the velocity advantage of the win mag, you could assume similar results at about 950 yds.....

I just watched The Best of the West with John Porter. The shooter used a 264 at 690 yards on an Elk, DRT ! Forgot, they were at 10'000 feet in Wyoming.
