Big Muley for Little Guys First deer
« on: November 01, 2015, 04:32:42 PM »
Well after 5 days of hunting with my little guy in his first season he made the best of it and connected with this muley on the last day of the season. After many hiking trips with grandpa this summer and fall and many trips to the range with dad he was ready.  NOT one time did he complain that he was tired or cold.  He was a trooper. In 5 days we saw 11 bucks and 8 legal ones. He was able to put 6 bucks in his scope but for whatever reason wasn't able to get a shot till the last day. As we were up on our hill I looked over and here he came. I told the little guy here comes a shooter. He got his tripod out and found the deer. He was walking away in a 1/4ing direction. I told him to make a good shot and take your time. He asked me to whistle to get him to stop I said ok but as soon as he stops you have to be ready and make a good shot. I whistled he stopped and turned our way and the ol .243 dropped him in his tracks from 198 yds down hill. You talk about exciting sitting next to him and watching it all unfold. It will be a memory that he and I will never forget. It looks as if daddy has found a new hunting partner. Our camp did good this year with Grandpa and Uncle Lon getting some muleys as well.

Right on, great job kiddo!
You too, dad. Thanks for sharing.

Cool story and pics. Great to start the first of many hunting memories with your son.
