Observatory Bull Tag Update
« on: November 03, 2015, 07:33:09 AM »
No elk seen....except a few dead spikes for me. My brother saw a cow and a elk butt on day two, we were glassing opposite sides of a ridge. We have been all over the Umtanum, wore out two pair of binoculars. Nothing. Folks say the elk will show any day. Hope so. Any guides on here wanna take this guy after a bull? :chuckle: I feel pretty defeated at this point.

Get down in those dark steep timber holes  and you find what you seek......

We have been hunting up there as well for a bull. We spent last Sunday through Sunday. We say 4 cows and a calf in the Manastash last Thursday. 1 spike umptanum mid day Friday (passed). Had a 6x6 run in front of the truck opening day of spike season. He was moving fast and hit the deep thick brush. Some younger kids pushed him out of the canyon up across the road. We spent 5 hours looking for him and never saw him again. We were in the umptanum. We went home for a break and heading back over tonight to try and fill a bull permit and cow permit. We are shooting anything that moves come tomorrow morning. We have a permit for all...

Just because you have permits for stuff doesn't mean anybody can  just shoot at anything.

Pm sent.  If you want to check the area out, I could get you better directions.  Saw many bulls during muzzy season.

Great bull, congrats to the hunter. I'm home for today. Hunted hard all day yesterday, no elk sightings. Not sure about Friday, gonna hit it again Saturday. Down to the wire. I am surprised to say my brain is wearing out much more than my body. I feel pretty good physically, other than normal aches and pains associated with elk hunting. So many days with out even a sighting is hurting me between the ears. Not use to this. I am sure seeing some beautiful country though.
