West Klickitat
« on: November 05, 2015, 10:06:29 AM »
Just curious on opinions on the dates for late west klickitat.  I drew the late rifle buck tag this year again.  Last time in 09.  With late start dates this year and the early rut reports have me a little concerned.  I was wondering what people thought about buck (rut) activity for the  later start buck dates.  When I drew it in 09 we had the perfect combo of early dates on low level early snow and saw lots of bucks every day.  I hunted our area durring general passed on a couple ok three pts. I observed a definate increase in early buck rubs compared to last year too.  I'll be elk hunting in our deer spot this year although the elk seem to have not moved in this year for some reason.  Good luck all I report back with some pics hopefully.

Nov 19-25?

If that's your season, it does seem a little late for the rut. I'd guess that most of the breeding will be done and over by then. The season was a week earlier last year.

Hopefully you'll still have a good hunt.

This was a lot better permit when the hunt dates were the same as modern Elk.

Yep Bobcat,  19-25th I'm thinking the same thing as you.  Last time I had it, the start date was the 12th and it was awesome.  Im hopeing to learn alot during elk season as far as activity.  I have never been up to our deer spot that late in the year and not sure what when the rut starts to wrap up.
Thanks

Not what im wanting to hear but thanks birddogbog.  At least the pressure won't be bad. Congrats on the deer!  I'll change tactics if needed still hoping for a nice buck!
Good luck all
