Ok, I stand corrected, water set all the more reason to wire it to something. Believe me I would have lost a lot of traps to high water if I didn't wire them to something.
Seems like a lot of trouble but it is peace of mind when one does go missing. Had a swim through go missing and you could see where someone took the wire off. I would have spent many hours looking otherwise.
Last year I foolishly neglected to wire up some cat traps. One I was sure was stolen but it turned out a cougar had made off with it. The other a bear had took off with it. I got them back but spent a long time looking.

i been doing this to all my traps. Even the colony traps for rats.  At first it seemed like a pain but now it's just one of the steps of making a set for me.
