Gobblers near Dayton...
« on: November 10, 2015, 12:36:00 PM »
Howdy all,

In the past decade I've spent many weeks out in the terrain outside Dayton... but it usually was flying in on a helicopter during fire season if you will  :)

I'd really like to go back and actually enjoy the area and bring a buddy of mine out late turkey hunting this month. But where to go? I do recall some of the roads that head south of town (Touchet?) seemed to go out to huntable areas. Would it be better to head out to "Wooten wildlife area" if we were going for a turkey? Or stick to one of the free to hunt areas near town? Not asking for your perfect spot, just trying to make the best of the trip that we can. Let me know or shoot me a PM, I'd really appriciate the insight!

Thanks!

Two ideas:  Some forest service stuff burned, the new growth with fall rain is prime food and local grain farmers probably would give permission as these huge fall flocks are real hard on new seeding

the blues have snow and that will push all the birds low. There is plenty of public area near blue creek, and other foot hill drainages. Get in your truck and drive it, its not big country.
