7mm-08 vs 6.5 creedmoor

I am considering my next custom build. I am sort of twisted up between these two options. My wife and sister both have the 7mm-08 and they are sweet shooters. I am very intrigued with the 6.5 Creed too. I want something that I can stretch out there for fun shooting but it will also see some field duty. As I mentioned, we already have a 7mm-08 so components would be the same for two rifles. Ballistics seem pretty close between the two as well. Does the 6.5 have enough upside to go that route? Opinions and any supporting data welcome.

I am a 7mm-08 buff big time. Like you said similar ballistics. The BC on the 6.5's are a little better then most the 284's in the same weights. Really up to you

If going custom....consider the 6mm Creedmoor with a quick twist it'll spit heavies into infinity and beyond.

Both are cool calibers.

The truth is I've bought too many cool calibers and then I regret it (too many different components to keep track of).

I've cut way back on calibers I'll buy just for sake of ammo.

If you love reloading different stuff, that might not be an issue for you.

The 6.5 grendel in the AR platform is pretty awesome.  It kicks less than a .22.  Weighs a little though.

Mine's about 23 lbs.  It sure is a solid long range gun, though.

I know a guy that has put a few rounds through a Ruger Hawkeye SS that has a trigger in it and it is a very nice shooting rifle.

I dont shoot either round but what i would say is uniformity in caliber and make are a good thing. Id probably stay with the 7mm08 and look strongly at the same make as the other 2 (if they are the same) this would be doubly important to me if they were mag fed.

 Both my kids shoot the 7mm-08 very well, Ruger M77 Hawkeye Compact. If seriously considering one let me know and you can borrow one to have them try.
